Fans of white fish will appreciate the Grilled Halibut, celebrated for its mild, delicate taste paired with expert preparation. Other indulgences such as the Double Pork Chop Dinner and Baked Ham Dinner bring forth rich, home-cooked flavors accented with pineapple rings or light seasoning that leave you comforted and satisfied.
Soul-warming homemade soups like the Loaded Chili Chili, garnished with sharp cheddar and chopped onions, and the daily rotating “Ask What’s Cookin’ Today” soup special, offer just the right balance of cozy toasty warmth on a chilly Wasilla day.
The ambiance perfectly complements the cuisine: cozy, unpretentious, and deeply inviting. Customers have praised the efficient, friendly service and the warm, inviting atmosphere that makes escaping rainy Alaska mornings a joy. Robert Cameron shared how the cozy lighting and comfortable seating made their rainy morning breakfast simply perfect, while Goddess Shannon enthusiastically declared the Mediterranean Omelet a spiritual culinary experience, especially with the recommended salsa twist. Quick service and fair pricing also stand out, as noted by Troy Church, making it a reliable spot to fuel up without fuss.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our party of five visited Mat-Su Family Restaurant for breakfast on a rainy morning, and it was a perfect experience from start to finish. We were seated immediately, no wait time, which was a pleasant surprise. The ambiance was incredibly cozy, with warm lighting and comfortable seating that made the dreary weather outside fade away. I ordered the meat skillet, and wow—what a feast! The portion was massive, easily enough to satisfy even the heartiest appetite, and every bite was packed with delicious, savory flavors. Our waitress was exceptional, attentively keeping our drinks topped off and checking in with genuine warmth. The service felt personal, never rushed, which added to the welcoming vibe. After eating, we lingered to chat, and the staff made us feel right at home, like we were catching up at a friend’s house. Mat-Su Family Restaurant is a gem—a place where great food, attentive service, and a relaxed atmosphere come together perfectly. Whether you’re craving a hearty breakfast or just a cozy spot to connect, this is the place to go. I highly recommend it to anyone passing through!
This was my second visit here this year and I've had a good experience each time. I'd go more often but I live in Texas and don't get here much.
Updated cuz it’s my obligation as a professional foodie to put people on. Y’all if they had a hidden video they woulda won AFV for best seated soul dance. This Mediterranean omelet was the best omelet I’ve ever had! (I usually prefer skillets or biscuits and gravy) Then Alisa checked on me and TKO: Finish Her!!!! She suggested salsa with it. It was a spiritual experience, and all of Heaven’s angels rejoiced. (This was the original post ⬇) Your RIGHTS are right: friendly, fast, large portions, hot, with great pricing. That said I’d definitely come back to try something else because I thought it was a little bland. It could be because I’m used to more sausage in my sausage gravy.
I just popped in here to have breakfast and it was a great breakfast at a fair price very quickly served the server was fantastic.
